falling off the wagon

so as most of my readers are aware that i have been really trying to get on track with my health, weight, etc.

at the beginning of the year, like many other people coming of their freshly inked resolutions, bought myself a gym membership. and there i was, 4 mornings a week sweating away from 5am to 6am before work.

a few coworkers got together and we decided to start an office version of the biggest loser.

i was doing awesome! and then at the beginning of february i got really sick with the flu and missed a whole week at the gym. during this time i wasn't too worried about my weight loss because, well i couldn't keep anything down anyway. but when i finally was able to, thats when i fell off the wagon. i still wasn't up to going to the gym but i did some workouts at home (situps, planks, etc.)

within the past week (which marks 3 weeks without a trip to the gym) and i've realized that i have an addiction to food. not just eating it, but all things that encompass it. i like to look at it, buy it and of course eat it. if something looks good, i eat it. if it tastes good, i eat even more of it. and then i eat until i feel so full that i'm going to throw up and on occasion i have thrown up from overeating.

only a few more months until a decision must be made.

TILT

well its thursday and today is all about things i love! so here we go!

1. eyelashes.  dark thick long luscious eyelashes.  mine are none of those, so i have to fake it with falsies and lots of black mascara.  im not really sure where this obsession love came from but i know if i'm running late or just not feeling it on a particular day, a few swipes of a good mascara on these lashes make me feel unbelievable.

2.  cute canvas tote bags.  as much as i love a cute purse, they're just not "me".  totes however keep me feeling young at heart and let me express my individuality in the corporate jungle.  i would really love to buy all of these.  all the pictures are linked to their etsy store.

3.  scarfs/scarves.  but not the big wintery cozy ones that i hold near and dear to my heart.  im talking about flowing, soft, comfy ones that can make any outfit standout.  i really dont know what else to say, except, i could wear one with every outfit, every day.

4.  EGGS!  incredible edible delicious yummy tasty eggs!  i love them any and each way you can cook one.  thanks to the fabulous katie mcshady (holla!) i have learned to make the perfect hard boiled egg.  but i love eating them on the weekends with the boys, overeasy dipping my toast into them or mooshing my hashbrowns around in the runny yolk.

5.  sleeping.  i'm just gonna leave this short and sweet.  there is nothing more in the world that i love to do than to sleep.  on-top of super lush soft sheets of egyptian cotton, super overstuffed pillows, big warm cozy blankets, down comforters...aaaahhhh lets take a nap!

and the others:

lemons/limes, girlfriends! (forming friendships with other girls perv!), sheets fresh out of the dryer, baby powder in my hair to avoid washing it (haha i know right?!), streaming movies on netflix, heating pads, yummy tea and scoring awesome clearance deals at target on my lunch break with one of my girlfriends.

TILT!

its thursday!! so that means its TILT time!

1.   valentines day.

yes, i realize its over but this year was different.  normally me and the partner in crime hit up a hotel for a night, do "adult" things, go out for a fancy sushi dinner and really just enjoy our evening out together.  however, this year we decided to stay home and celebrate with our sidekick.  we ended up all showering eachother with amazing gifts, had a fabulous steak dinner and enjoyed the love we have for our little family.  i showered the boys with fabulous things.  R. got some fancy schmancy watercolors, watercolor board, a new portfolio and other artsy things.  while the sidekick got yummy dye-free/nut-free candies from trader joes, legos, new books (star wars!) and a new rash guard/board shorts (with a shark!) for our planned beach summer.

i on the other hand felt a lot of geeky love and i couldn't be more stoked.  what do you get for the geeky cute momma in your life? easy.  wonka exceptionals, a little stuffed owl and video games of course! little big planet 2 to be exact.  all in all it was one of my favorite valentines day.

2.  all things coconut scented/flavored.

yes, i am nutty for coconut.  i love it.  cooking with it, baking with it, eating it, smelling it, rubbing it on me.  i don't care what it is, but if it smells like coconut, i am all over it!!!!

 3.  handwashing dishes.

strange right?  i dont necessarily loathe my dishwasher, i use it but lately i have been handwashing just about everything.  i love all the different scented dish soap, cute scrubbies, gloves, etc.  i really wish that one day i will have a beautiful sink to wash dishes in.  i love 50's style kitchens with the big porcelain sinks.

4.  junk food.

there i said it!  as much as i love to eat healthy and only put good things in my body.  i do love me some junk food.  its awful i know.  but pizza, burgers, french fries (omg...), chicken wings, taquitos (from 7-11), NACHOS, and candy.......fuck i know, its so bad. but dammit sometimes the only thing that sounds good is something deep fried and smothered in gravy haha

i know this is horrible to post.  but i have been working my ass off to lose weight and to date i have lost 24lbs in a little over a month.  now while i cant really eat stuff like this, i get a weird satisfaction out of looking at it haha

5.  the color green!

i'm not really sure what it is lately but i am obsessed with GREEN.  in just about all shades.  the color is just well, beautiful and it makes me happy and calm.  this is also a huge accomplishment for me because for the longest time, everything was black. no splash of color anywhere!!  granted, i do still love black but now i accent it with a little color.

the rest:

canvas totes, warm sunny days in mid february, mango smoothies, top chef allstars, daydreaming about summer, hanging out with friends, girl-talk, super plush bedding, sleeping with the window open.

lost art: letter-writing

in the past week, i have sent out 3, yes THREE!, handwritten letters!!!

its sad that this isn't really practiced anymore. truly a lost art, in my opinion. all those hours and years of practicing handwriting/cursive, punctuation, correct letter formation, etc. and for what? for everything to go to hell in a handbasket. have you seen most text messages from 13-19 year olds? holy jesus. i need a dictionary and a translation guide just to know what the hell they're talking about!

i'm sure they think its super cuper cool to shorten words, abbreviate, etc. but its there really a need for that anymore? back in the day (god im getting old) doing things like this was necessary. remember when you only got 50 text messages a month with your plan? and you would use them for emergency situations only? or maybe you saved all 50 for a really bad breakup......(guilty as charged). phones were also different back then, screens were way smaller and we had to get the most information in the smallest amount of space. like what? maybe 100 characters?

there is no need for this anymore kids!!! start spelling your words correctly, stop coming up with "new" ways to spell words, because really you just look stupid and you make all us adults question your education and the public school system in general.

/rant.

so back to what i was saying. hand-written letters. yes yes.

everything these days is about technology! and as much as i love the random email or text (readable text!). i like nothing more than getting snail-mail. especially handwritten letters, cute cards and adorable postcards.

remember when we were kids and we used to seek out pen-pals?

any 3rd grader
any elementary school
any city/state in the u.s.a.

i used to love having pen-pals. i really wish i could remember some of their names. it'd be fantastic to get back in touch with them. i had one pen-pal that i stayed in contact with from about 3rd grade until 5th or 6th grade. so much fun!

so did you have a pen-pal?

do you still send out hand-written letters, cards and notes? or are you strictly technology based these days?

TILT!

its thursday and well, i've been stricken by the plague (aka super flu) for most of the week.  so obviously i've had a lot of time to sit here and think about the thinks i really love this week.  and what an odd mix this will be.

here we go!

1.  big huge obnoxious rings!

maybe its because i'm short and thick that big things attract me, but i love all my accessories (especially rings!) oversized.  now i'm not one for overdoing it.  like i dont wear rings on every single finger, i just can't do that. since its been said that i have the fingers/hands of small child (gee thanks guys!), but one or two, sometimes even three and we're good.

2. cute knee-high and thigh-high socks

i love nothing more than lounging around in booty shorts or cute undies, a tank top and fantastically amazing socks.  i love wearing socks, i just cant handle sleeping in them.  i mean, i go to bed with them on, but by morning my feet are bare, the socks are wrapped up in the sheets somewhere and my toes are freezing! i'm not really sure how it happens, but it happens every night.

3.  girls with beautifully shaped eyebrows.

call it eyebrow envy.  and i have a hardcore case of it.  one of my eyebrows doesn't have an arch and from years of waxing hair doesn't even grow in some parts now, so regrowing/reshaping hasn't really worked in my favor and i'm scared shitless to even attempt to pencil these fuckers in.  mainly because i'm afraid of looking like a deranged joan crawford and they really don't make a color that matches my eyebrows unless i dye them :/

4. steak!

so as i have mentioned a few times, i have been fighting the flu this week.  and all i can think about is what i want to eat when this is finally out of my system.  its been decided that i need the FATTEST JUICIEST STEAK EVAAAAAAR! cause well, meat is delicious.  sorry vegan friends.

5.  pho!

because its so pho-king good!  'nuff said.

the other stuff:

purging/organizing stuff, warm sunny days, daydreaming of summertime, hot cups of tea with honey, postcards, flip-flops, heating pads, lavender scented dryer sheets and long hot showers.
