TILT!

1. crocheting
i've been crocheting since i was 16.  i learned waaay back in high school and have kept up with it every since.  but in the new year, i have really rekindled my romance with hooks and yarn, no small thanks to inspiration sparked by my dear friend meg and her beautiful creations.  in just a few weeks i have cranked out a new hat for the sidekick, a tam for the partner in crime and two baby blankets.  not to mention have people requesting things from me!!  this makes me feel really good.  i love being able to craft things for people i love.  i have a few blankets and scarves i want to make and i can't wait to dive into those projects.

2. etsy
i seriously cannot stay off this site.  i click through hundreds of pages of night from everything to handmade cosmetics to decorative items for my apartment to crochet patterns (im addicted!).  i'm a huge supporter of small businesses and a firm believer in handmade gifts/crafts.  and etsy just isn't awesome stuff for sale, they also feature blogs!

3. tea tree oil soap
seriously, i was a total skeptic before i tried it.  but i've been fighting really bad acne for the past few years and i have no idea why.  i made it all through high school with no problems and then when i hit about 25 my skin went crazy!  so for a few years there i probably spent hundreds (yes, hundreds) of dollars on skin care stuff.  creams, ointments, lotions, cleansers, etc.  and you know what, none of them of them worked.  so on recommendation from a friend i got some trader joes tea tree oil soap.  and i haven't looked back since.  i also use witch hazel as an astringent/toner and jojoba oil as a moisturizer.  i'm telling ya folks, look into natural skin care products!  the soap is 1.99 for two bars and i'm not even joking, but the two bars last me two months.  the witch hazel costs 2.99-3.99 and the bottle is huge and has lasted me 4+ months.  jojoba oil is a little steep (i think my bottle cost $7 or $8) but a little goes a long way and i've had the same bottle for over 9 months.

4. room envy
i really long for the day when i have a home of my own to decorate as i see fit.  i'm growing tired of renting and not being able to really do what i want to do with my home.  i want a bed on a porch, a room full of books from floor to ceiling, a cutesy kitchen and most of all a stellar laundry room.

other things i'm loving today?
early morning workouts, oatmeal with fresh fruit, soft scarves, high thread count sheets, owls and birds, watching the snow fall, pho, the way books smell, the breakfast power sammich from panera (try it!).
