i dreamt of a white christmas...
Yesterday afternoon it started snowing. It hasn't really stopped. The Sidekick left this morning for his own week-long adventure. So the Partner-in-Crime set off, on foot, for out own adventures in the snow and our surrounding neighborhood.

is it a sign?
anyone that knows me knows that i love to change my hairstyle. whether it be a cut, color, style or texture.
for as long as i can remember i've wanted to be a hair stylist (among a growing list of other professions). i've spent a lot of time in hair salons, beauty supply stores. anyway, i've had some amazing results and well, some not so amazing results. but i've been able to teach myself and a few brave souls have even donated their hair to be guinea pigs.
so today the partner and crime and i had to run some last minute errands (christmas cookie supplies) and i saw that they built a regency beauty institute right near my house!!!
this could be my chance!! so as soon as i got home i went to the website and requested information on enrolling. they even have part-time enrollment, which means i could still work and go to school. yes, i know i flip flop on my major at college all the time, but i think thats because im choosing things that'll bring me monetary happiness, rather than just plain happiness. i want to do something i love, not something that i sort of like doing that'll make me tons of money.

TILT!!!
its thursday!
and you know what that means? its time for another round of TILT!
1. yarn! i love the way it feels and smells. i love all the colors and how cozy i feel amongst skeins of it in any craft store. if given the chance, i would and could spend hours browsing yarn...and then spend hundreds of dollars on skeins....
don't judge me, i know i am not alone on my love for luxurious yarn.
since unplugging parts of my life from the online world (mainly facebook which kind of consumed me), i have been diving right back into my crafting. and i love nothing more than creating things for people. granted, i have been crocheting since high school, so well over 13 years. but reading patterns is extremely difficult for me and i only know a few stitches. so my creations are super basic. but this week i finally mastered the "puff" stitch. well my version of it, haha.
2. cupcakes! om nom nom. not just any out of the box cupcake. not those crappy ones you buy from the bakery at the grocery store, but those classy (yes classy), tasty (amazing flavors!), designer looking, looks too pretty to eat cupcakes from cupcakeries (is that a word?).
if you really love me, you'll buy me cupcakes. just sayin' ;)
3. my christmas tree!!! i'm biased, so shoot me.
4. chick-fil-a! granted because of their christian morals they're closed on sundays (you bastards!), i can't help but love this place. amazing chicken sammiches, southern style sweet tea, real ice cream milkshakes so thick your brain explodes and motherfuckin' waffle fries!!!!
other things im loving?
snow, christmas cookies, beautifully wrapped presents under impeccably decorated trees, bath & body works body sprays, spinach dip and hawaiian bread, matte fingernail polish, knee-high suede slouchy boots paired with jeggings.

the hollow men - t.s. eliot
you have no idea who t.s. eliot is/was, i suggest you do some research. but in case you're too lazy, just know that he was in fact one of the most important, if not the most important english-language poet of the twentieth century.
you might remember the scene in apocalypse now where marlon brando's character reads excerpts of the poem.
the last few lines of the poem are eliot's most often quotes lines. the poem has been referenced in film, television and video games.
for some reason, this poem totally mirrors my mood today. enjoy.

This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper.

Mistah Kurtz—he dead. A penny for the Old Guy I We are the hollow men We are the stuffed men Leaning together Headpiece filled with straw. Alas! Our dried voices, when We whisper together Are quiet and meaningless As wind in dry grass Or rats’ feet over broken glass In our dry cellar Shape without form, shade without colour, Paralysed force, gesture without motion; Those who have crossed With direct eyes, to death’s other Kingdom Remember us—if at all—not as lost Violent souls, but only As the hollow men The stuffed men. II Eyes I dare not meet in dreams In death’s dream kingdom These do not appear: There, the eyes are Sunlight on a broken column There, is a tree swinging And voices are In the wind’s singing More distant and more solemn Than a fading star. Let me be no nearer In death’s dream kingdom Let me also wear Such deliberate disguises Rat’s coat, crowskin, crossed staves In a field Behaving as the wind behaves No nearer— Not that final meeting In the twilight kingdom III This is the dead land This is cactus land Here the stone images Are raised, here they receive The supplication of a dead man’s hand Under the twinkle of a fading star. Is it like this In death’s other kingdom Waking alone At the hour when we are Trembling with tenderness Lips that would kiss Form prayers to broken stone. IV The eyes are not here There are no eyes here In this valley of dying stars In this hollow valley This broken jaw of our lost kingdoms In this last of meeting places We grope together And avoid speech Gathered on this beach of the tumid river Sightless, unless The eyes reappear As the perpetual star Multifoliate rose Of death’s twilight kingdom The hope only Of empty men. V Here we go round the prickly pear Prickly pear prickly pear Here we go round the prickly pear At five o’clock in the morning. Between the idea And the reality Between the motion And the act Falls the Shadow For Thine is the Kingdom Between the conception And the creation Between the emotion And the response Falls the Shadow Life is very long Between the desire And the spasm Between the potency And the existence Between the essence And the descent Falls the Shadow For Thine is the Kingdom For Thine is Life is For Thine is the This is the way the world ends This is the way the world ends This is the way the world ends Not with a bang but a whimper.
